When I finally come back to consciousness, it's a flood of disappointment and discomfort. Why did I fall asleep? Why do I have to wake up? In less than one second, my mind goes through a dozen thoughts and emotions. The dreams I had are all recaptured, and if I don't hold on then in a few more seconds they're gone. I feel the stiffness of my eyes and nose and mouth, I feel the disgust of having fallen asleep and the dismay of not being able to sleep anymore. And sometimes, it finishes off with the joy of living the day that's coming.
The next second I open my eyes.
